ThingsNearYou is designed as a globally crowdsourced platform, offering an extensive database of offline events. Whether it's concerts, art exhibitions, sports events, or local markets, our platform provides a wide array of event listings tailored to diverse interests.
Over several iterations, ThingsNearYou has matured from a niche techno music listing site into a versatile event discovery platform. The current version emphasizes user experience, leveraging diverse data sources to provide real-time event information, thus removing the need for frequent updates.
The project initially combined local event information with travel planning; however, it has since refined its focus exclusively on event listings to streamline user experience.
Our platform integrates both automated and manual processes to collect and update event data from a variety of sources. The backend is built with PHP and MySQL, while Tailwind CSS is utilized for responsive design. A cron job ensures regular updates to maintain data accuracy.
