Light and the unlimited play a primary role in Simone Kornfeld’s art: exploring the possibilities of colour to the extreme, as well as the dissolution of limitations, are two of her themes. Simone Kornfeld has developed her oeuvre from her decades of experimentation with the phenomenon of colour. Colour action, colour intensity and colour movement are the dominant stylistic elements of her art. Simone Kornfeld paints her large-format pictures with verve, layer by layer: “I paint with my bare fingers around the picture lying on the floor, circling in a dance-like, playful movement.” Simone Kornfeld, Unter dem Himmel sein, 2016, 160 x 140 cm, Oil / Canvas Despite all the different aesthetic approaches in her art, the references in her oeuvre to lyrical and gestural abstract painting are unmistakable.
