Blaxploitation was more than just a catchall term for or stereotyping of low-budget Black cinema in the 1970s. Rather it was an opportunity for Black actors to be strong, sexy and represented on the big screen, and many of these films became cult classics thanks to their stars and soundtracks. The posters that were used to market these movies have become collector’s items in their own rights; see examples and learn more about the genre at this Poster House exhibit.
